What's in a name?
Why SISU?
SISU is a Finnish word that captures something powerful: unwavering resilience, quiet determination, and the courage to keep pushing, especially when things get tough.
SISU was built on a simple principle:
land, equipment, and trust all deserve respect.

Family Tradition
As a third-generation heavy equipment operator and contractor with more than 23 years of experience in excavation, underground utilities, and construction. I was learning how to run equipment, read ground conditions, and understand how early decisions shape a site for decades.
This isn’t a business built behind a desk.
It’s built in the dirt.
In the context of your construction project,
SISU represents more than just a name,
It’s our philosophy:
-
Staying focused when projects hit bumps in the road
-
Solving complex challenges with resolve
-
Advocating relentlessly for clients' best interests
-
Getting the job done no matter how difficult
It’s the perfect name to represent a team that doesn't quit when it counts.

About the owner
Zachary Thill, PMP
With over 23 years of experience leading complex construction projects, Zac brings a proven track record of success across Utility, Commercial, and Multi-Family portfolio spaces.
As a third generation operator, and seasoned Project Manager, he has managed residential, municipal and commercial design-build initiatives with a sharp focus on driving growth, mitigating risk, and delivering results.
From Field Experience to Project Oversight
My career spans hands-on excavation and construction as well as professional project oversight across complex builds. That combination matters—because most construction problems don’t start above ground.
In 2025 alone, I managed and monitored over $270 million in active construction project value, overseeing scope, sequencing, documentation, and risk across multiple portfolios.
That experience reinforced what decades in the field already taught me: the most expensive mistakes are the ones no one catches early.
I founded SISU to close that gap.

One more thing...
Im proud to be certified as a Disabled Business Owner.

SISU is proud to be a Certified Disability-Owned Business Enterprise. After a service-related disability and years of recovery, I returned to construction with a deeper commitment to resilience, integrity, and service — values that now define how we advocate for owners and deliver complex projects.
